Wizkid Misunderstood , Not Running Away From Afrobeats – Joeboy

Nigerian artist Joeboy thinks that Wizkid’s recent remarks about Afrobeats were misunderstood and taken out of context.

Wizkid faced criticism after stating on social media that he no longer wants to be labeled solely as an Afrobeats artist because he creates a variety of music.

Joeboy defended Wizkid on the Big Friday Day Show with Tacha on Cool FM in Lagos, emphasizing that Wizkid’s intention was not to abandon Afrobeats.

He said, “Wizkid’s statement is being misunderstood, he is not running away from Afrobeats. All we are saying is our identity is Afrobeats but please don’t box us because we can make other genres of music too.”
