JUNE 12: Tinubu Denies Stopping Registration Of Mew Political Parties
President Tinubu has dismissed claims that he prevented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from registering new political parties.
Speaking to members of the National Assembly during the Democracy Day celebration on Thursday, the President clarified that at no point under his administration has INEC been instructed to halt the registration of new parties.
He said, “I have never stopped the registration of any political party.”
He further stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be committing political malpractice if it refused to accept those now seeking to join its ranks.
Welcoming new members from Delta and Akwa Ibom States, Tinubu said, “You are all welcome to the progressives forum.”
On the state of the opposition, Tinubu remarked that he has no intention of helping rival parties organize themselves, adding, “It is indeed a pleasure to watch your houses in disarray.”
