BREAKING: Delta State lockdown extended

Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has extended the stay at home lockdown policy for another 14 days.
Speaking on a live broadcast, Governor Okowa, at Asaba on Tuesday morning announced the extension as a means to stop the fast spreading COVID -19 pandemic.
The Delta state Governor also announced that the state has began massive production of washable facemasks and same will be distributed to Delta people along with palliatives from food banks within 72hours.
This development is coming after President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the lockdown of Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja by another 14 days in a further effort to check the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.
He announced the extension during the 7pm nationwide broadcast on Monday to mark the end of the initial lockdown that started from March 29.
Buhari stated that the aims of the lockdown was to protect lives.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance with lockdown restrictions, saying that it “has generally been good”. He commended Nigerians for their sacrifices.
“As a result of the support and cooperation, we were able to achieve a lot.
“Today, we have identified 92 percent of our traceable contacts and doubled our testing capacities,” he said.
Buhari expressed assurance that “as a nation we are on the right track to defeating the war against COVID-19” but explained that the need to extend the lockdown in view of the rising cases of COVID-19 and death in Nigeria, globally, which he described as “alarming”.
The President also urged Nigerians “to take responsibility” by observing personal hygiene while avoiding large gatherings and obey social distance order.
