Ballon d’Or Set To Be Co-organised By UEFA

The Union of European Football Associations, UEFA and owner of L’Equipe and France Football magazine, Amaury group, who is also the co-founder of prestigious award, the Ballon d’Or, have agreed on a partnership deal to co-organise the awards ceremony starting 2024.
This new partnership comes seven years after the previous deal between FIFA and France Football ended, and will see UEFA and Groupe Amaury co-organize the Ballon d’Or awards starting next year.
The Ballon d’Or was known as the FIFA Ballon d’Or from 2010 to 2015, but in 2016 FIFA created its own Best Awards. Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or in 2022, while Aitana Bonmatí was awarded the women’s prize.
“UEFA will contribute its football expertise, market the global commercial rights and organize the annual awards gala,” a statement said.
As part of the deal, UEFA will discontinue its own player of the year awards.
