I Was Offered N5bn to Orchestrate Fubara’s Impeachment — Edison Ehie CoS to Gov Fubara

Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that he was offered N5 billion to orchestrate his principal’s impeachment.
Speaking on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Ehie claimed he has evidence of the bribe offer stored on his phone.
“I can show you my phone. In early October 2023, they approached me with a N5 billion bribe for impeachment. I have it documented and have printed and distributed it in case they attempt anything against me,” he said.
Ehie, who was the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly at the time, denied involvement in the October 30, 2023, bombing of the assembly complex. His denial follows allegations from George Nwaeke, a former head of service in the state, who claimed Fubara ordered Ehie to execute the attack and provided him with a bag of money for the operation.
Dismissing the claims as politically motivated, Ehie said, “I had no hand in the burning of the Rivers Assembly. Like everyone else, I woke up on October 30, 2023, to the news.”
He added that he has instructed his lawyers to file a criminal libel suit against Nwaeke and revealed that the ex-official sought financial assistance from him on the same day he resigned as head of service.
Rivers State has been embroiled in a political crisis since Fubara’s fallout with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
