Trump’s Second Term: Supporters Stand by Him Despite Low Poll Numbers

President Donald Trump’s second term began with bold moves: cutting government agencies, initiating trade wars, and clashing with the judiciary over immigration enforcement. Though his approval ratings have dropped, his voters remain largely supportive.
Frank Tuoti, 72, a retired machinist from New Hampshire, said, “So far, I’m very satisfied with the job he’s doing.” Despite concerns about tariffs affecting his retirement portfolio, Tuoti remains hopeful: “I think it will work out in the end. He’s negotiating with a lot of different countries… and one thing he does know about is money, and making money.”
Jane Sisk, a 63-year-old retired mother from Virginia, praised Trump’s efforts but acknowledged difficulties in ending the Ukraine conflict. “I think we got two very stubborn leaders… Trump and JD Vance both have done just about everything they can,” she said. “Trump is the art of the deal… but he’s having a hard time making a deal on that one.”
Karen Miner, 57, a wine store owner in Reno, Nevada, remains unconcerned about tariffs that could affect her imported products. “You can’t do numbers yet… because it’s still in negotiations,” she said. “They can always buy wines from the United States.” Miner called Trump “very brilliant.”
Christy Edwards, a retired teacher in North Carolina, supports Trump’s immigration policies. “Those are the kind of people we don’t need in the United States,” she said. “He’s not deporting people who have not caused any problems. He’s deporting the criminals.” Edwards also opposed public funding for immigrants.
Zack Kline, 22, from York, Pennsylvania, noted some positive changes like fewer border crossings but remains cautious: “It’s kind of a wait-and-see because it’s only been 100 days.” He looks forward to Trump’s promises on fracking and reducing government waste.
Despite this support, polls show Trump’s approval rating near historic lows for his second term, with many Americans disapproving of his economic and immigration policies.
